JOIN US IN DUBLIN AND CORK FOR THE 2022 BUSINESS AND LAW SYMPOSIUM
The 2022 Business and Law Symposium sponsored by the Irish American Law Society of Cleveland in association with University College Cork will take place September 27 through September 30, 2022, in Dublin and Cork Ireland.
The program will offer at least eight continuing legal education credits and will be packed with opportunities to network with colleagues from both sides of the Atlantic.
Air Transportation and Hotel Accommodations are on your own, however, hotels will be reserved for your booking in both Dublin and Cork. It is preferred that you use the reserved hotels as that is where the busses from Dublin to Cork will be picking up and dropping off.

Tuesday, September 27th at 5:00 PM* The Honorable Society of King’s Inns Constitution Hill, Dublin 7 - We will be in the Main Hall for a one hour CLE presentation on Independence of the Judiciary followed by a cocktail reception. This event is to be attended by registrants and their guests.
Wednesday, September 28th at 5:00 PM* The Law Society of Ireland Blackhall Place, Dublin 7 - We will be in the President’s Hall for a one hour CLE presentation on Ireland as a Global Center for Legal Services. A cocktail reception will immediately follow in the Blue Room. This event is to be attended by registrants and their guests.
Thursday, September 29th at 10:00 AM* - We will board two motor coaches to take us to Cork. Each bus will pick up at one hotel in Dublin and drop off at one Hotel in Cork. The total trip is estimated to take 2 hours and 45 minutes. Locations for pick up and drop off will be determined based upon the number of our participants that are registered at the various hotels.
Thursday, September 29th at 6:00 PM, (time confirmed) Cork City Hall, Angelsea Street, Cork - We will be hosted by Cork City Council and welcomed by Lord Mayor of Cork, Deirdre Forde at a cocktail reception in Cork City Hall.

Friday, September 30th at 6:00 PM Imperial Hotel 76 South Mall, Cork - This will be our official closing event. We will enjoy a cocktail reception and dinner at the Imperial Hotel. This event is to be attended by registrants and their guests.
Saturday, October 1st, Time TBD
- We are finalizing details for guided tours of Middleton Distillery and the harbor town of Cobh. Bus transportation will be arranged. Middleton is approximately 24 minutes from Cork City Centre. There we will tour the distillery and have the opportunity to taste (and purchase) some fine Irish whiskeys. The bus will then take us to historic Cobh (20 minute drive) for a walking tour of the town where many of our ancestors boarded ships and emigrated to the US. Cobh was also the last port of call for the Titanic and the center from which a rescue effort was launched to save 761 survivors of the Lusitania. The bus will then return us to City Centre (20 minute drive)
- This will be an optional event and will carry an additional add-on per person fee, the amount still to be determined. It may be attended by both registrants and guests.
Kings Inns - The Honorable Society of King’s Inns (King’s Inns), established in 1541, is Ireland’s oldest school of law. King’s Inns is the Irish ‘Inn of Court’ for training and admitting legal professionals who wish to be awarded the degree of Barrister–at–Law. Home - King's Inns (kingsinns.ie)
Cork City Hall - The foundation stone of Cork City Hall was laid by Éamon de Valera on the 9th of July 1932 and opened in 1936. The building stands as a replacement to the previous City Hall that was destroyed by British troops in the fire of 1920, also known as The Burning of Cork, and was one of the key events in Ireland's struggle for independence.
University College Cork School of Law - UCC School of Law is a globally recognized law school, ranked in the top 100 in the QS Rankings. The Law School will be our host in Cork and has generously assisted in the development of the curriculum and panelists. The Imperial Hotel Cork - We will celebrate the closing dinner of our Symposium at this hotel which was commissioned in 1813. It has played host to many historic figures including Frederick Douglas and President John F. Kennedy. Bus transportation will be provided between Dublin and Cork on September 29, 2022. We have reserved two busses which will pick up from two of our Dublin Hotels and drop off at two of our Cork Hotels based upon bookings.
Hotels will be booked on your own. Below are rooms that have been blocked for our group. We suggest that you book rooms at these hotels as the busses that will transport us from Dublin to Cork will only pick up and drop off at single locations. We are planning on two busses to pick up at two different hotels in Dublin. Drop offs will be determined based upon the hotels chosen by attendees in Cork.

This is a new build hotel that is opening July 1, 2022. It is located directly behind the Four Court's complex and located within a 10 minute walk to both of our event venues. It is one block from the River Liffey with easy access to the Temple Bar area.
Rooms are €189 per night for a Standard Queen room, €205 per night for Standard King room, inclusive if VAT and hot buffet breakfast. This hotel will allow the same rates for Monday, September 26 for guests who wish to arrive a day early. The website automatically gives you three nights instead of two. This Hotel is on the South side of the Liffey, located in the midst of Stephens Green, Trinity College and Temple Bar. There are 10 Classic Rooms and 10 Deluxe rooms being held for our booking.

In Cork our events include our CLE at the UCC Centre for Executive Education at Lapps Quay; A reception at Cork City Hall and a closing dinner at the Imperial Hotel. The Imperial Hotel and the Clayton Hotel are both within walking distance of all events. The River Lee Hotel is closer to the UCC Campus but is a good 20-minute walk from Lapps Quay. A fourth hotel, The Kingsley is a four star but is a 40-minute walk or 14-minute drive from Lapps Quay.
All hotels in Cork will have the option of staying an extra night on October 1st so that you might be able to explore more of Cork and its surrounds. On that date we will have an optional tour to the Middleton Distillery and to Cobh.
The Imperial is where we will have our closing dinner on September 30th. It is located within walking distance of our events at Cork City Hall and the UCC Centre for Executive Education.
Rates are €185 per night for a classic double room for Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30. If you plan to stay over Saturday night, October 1st, you will be quoted the best rate available. (€325 per night at the time of this posting)
